Rio de Janeiro, Paraty & Iguazu Falls

Suggested 12 day itinerary

DAY 1 – Arrive in Rio De Janeiro

Today you will arrive in Rio, you will be met at the airport and then transferred to your hotel. You will have the evening at your leisure.

DAY 2 – Sugar Loaf Mountain by Cable Car

After breakfast will we explore Sugar Loaf. This dramatic granite rock a well-known Rio landmark and tourist attraction is located in the mouth of Guanabara Bay. You will ride in an aerial cable car. Getting through the first section, we´ll make a quick stop giving you time to snap a few shots of the impressive ascension then you will ride the second and most beautiful section. Reaching the zenith you will encounter one of the most wonderful views of Rio, a break taking experience at 395 meters above the city.  

DAY 3 – Tijuca Forest, Santa Teresa, & Corcovado

Today you will visit the Tijuca National Park. This park is known as the largest urban forest on earth. Its huge mountains covered with tropical vegetation contrast with dramatic granite rocks forming a unique background for Rio's beaches and architecture. In this tour you visit the Park's best viewpoints, waterfalls and hike up Tijuca Peak (Rio's highest at 3300 ft). A good option is to combine this Tour with an afternoon visit with lunch (included) to the charming district of Santa Teresa, with its cobblestone hilly streets, old homes, interesting museums and Rio's last surviving tram line. During a very short stay in town it is important to visit Corcovado to see the most famous of all images of Rio, the statue of Christ the Redeemer, located inside the Park.

DAY 4 – Free Day in Rio

Today you will be at your leisure.

DAY 5 – Transfer to Paraty

Today you will have a short 4 hour journey down the stunning Costa Verde where along the road you will see how the mountains reach into the sea. Hundreds of exotic and exclusive beaches are housed amongst some 60 Island in the area. This afternoon you will arrive in Paraty.

DAY 6 - Boat and Beaches Tour

This morning you will embark on a boat tour. Paraty has 65 islands and many beaches of uncommon beauty. It is surrounded by exuberant vegetation which makes it a quiet and unbelievable place to stay. The waters are perfect for swimming and snorkeling. Tours have different routes for each day of week; there are four stops with 45 minutes in each place and there is the possibility to snorkel in the clear and warm waters. You will also visit Ilha Comprida which is known as a natural aquarium and a wonderful location for photography.

DAY 7 - Historical Tour

Today you will have a historical and cultural tour. Different than many colonial cities, the architecture of Paraty has a unique character with remarkable originality. Paraty is a Historic National Monument and Historic Patrimony worldwide declared by UNESCO. 65% of Paraty is located inside of the National Park of Serra da Bocaina.

DAY 8 - Free Day in Paraty. Evening transfer back to Rio

This morning and afternoon you will be at your leisure. Later this evening you will be transferred back to Rio so that you may relax before your next day’s journey.

 
DAY 9 - Fly to Foz do Iguacu. Tour Brazilian Side of Falls

Today you will be transferred to the Rio airport in order to fly to Foz do Iguacu. In Iguazu you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. This afternoon you will have a tour of the Brazilian side of the falls.
*We recommend the helicopter over flight.

Day 10 - Tour Argentine Side of Falls

This morning you will be transferred to Iguassu National Park, province of Misiones, 28 kilometers from the center of Foz do Iguaçu and 45 kilometers from the tropical Hotel das Cataratas. The bridge lies approximately 20 kilometers, downstream from Iguassu Falls and just 2 kilometers, upstream from the confluence of the Iguaçu and Paraná Rivers, where visitors are able to have a panoramic sight of the Three-Frontier Landmark on each corner of the three borders: Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina. While touring the national park you will visit several segments of the falls. Bring clothes you don’t mind getting wet in and prepare yourself for a spectacular adventure. You will also take a boat ride under the falls to get a unique perspective of this world wonder.

 
Day 11 – Fly to Rio

This afternoon you will be transferred to the Iguacu airport in order to fly to Rio. In Rio you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel for the evening.

Day 12 – Transfer Out Rio de Janeiro

Today you will be transferred to the airport in order to connect with your flight home.
